2027: “Lagos PDP will back Seyi Tinubu for governor” – Youth leaders reveal

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has expressed confidence that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will emerge as a unifying candidate for Lagos State in the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at a press conference in Owerri, CONYL President General Goodluck Ibem asserted that Seyi Tinubu possesses the leadership qualities needed to gain support across political parties, including the Lagos State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Ibem emphasized Lagosians’ historical support for President Tinubu and his legacy, dismissing criticisms of Seyi Tinubu’s alleged governorship bid as unwarranted.

He cited President Tinubu’s track record of transformational governance and democratic principles, which he believes have shaped Seyi Tinubu’s readiness for leadership.

Reacting to the comments of the Lagos State PDP chapter rubbishing the alleged governorship bid of Seyi Tinubu as ” a family affair”.

Ibem expressed confidence that PDP and other parties will vote for Seyi Tinubu if he declares.

“We want to remind the PDP that the people of Lagos State love and appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which informs why they voted for him and his party the Alliance For Democracy, AD, in 1999 in Lagos State.

“The people of Lagos State rejected the PDP and embraced President Bola Tinubu and what he stands for.

“The PDP have never won the governorship election of Lagos State even when the party was in control of the federal government which confirms that Lagos people don’t accept or tolerate any form of imposition from any quarters but rather believe in true democracy.

“True leadership are sustained via transformational performance and Tinubu has proved to Lagosians that he came into governance to serve the people and not to be served by Lagos State as claimed by the PDP Lagos State Chapter,” Ibem said.
