2024 Delta budget: Govt sets aside N150bn for works sector

Delta Government has set aside N150 billion for its works sector in the fiscal year 2024.

Sheriff Oborevwori, the State Governor, said this in Asaba on Wednesday when presenting the 2024 budget before the State House of Assembly.

According to him, N150 billion has been set aside for the Ministry of Works to carry out major projects in the 2019 fiscal year.

Oborevwor stated that his administration would concentrate on infrastructure development, calling it a crucial driver of economic growth and social development.

”We will also invest in critical sectors such as transportation, energy, water, and telecommunications, with a focus on expanding access to underserved areas and improving the resilience and sustainability of our infrastructure,” he said.

Oborevwori praised his predecessor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his significant advances in infrastructural development across the state, noting that the result was obvious in people’s better quality of life and enhanced connection across the state.

He, however, acknowledged that there was still much work to be done and guaranteed that his administration was determined to build on past triumphs, while also elevating the State to new heights.

Oborevwori also said that N46.6 billion had been set aside for the education sector in the 2024 budget.

He stated that education was a crucial component of growth and stated that his administration was dedicated to ensuring that every citizen had access to high-quality education.
