2023 Polls: Resist attempts to destroy our Democracy- SOYD tell Nigerians

As the 2023 polls gathers momentum, a group Society for the Youth and the Downthroden, SOYD, has called on Nigerians to resist any attempt to destroy the nation’s Democracy.

Making the call yesterday in Markurdi, Benue State, President, SOYD, Comrade, Ogwuche Gabriel stated that the promotion of peace and unity in the country should be every citizens mantra.

Ogwuche said, “It’s no longer news that the much anticipated Presidential election in Nigeria will happen this Saturday. As usual, we call on you and other young people in Nigeria to always remain peaceful.

“We should resist any form of temptation that is capable of destroying our enduring democracy and unity of the nation.”

However, he urged every Nigerian to vote and discharge other lawful responsibilities peacefully. Adding that, “As a group, what we need is peace and peace only.

In his words, “Evidently, except by the grace of God, it will be extremely difficult if not impossible, for any Presidential candidate and other critical stakeholders to accept the outcome of this election due to unresolved controversies and other technical defects on the part of the authority.

“I appreciate the confidence you have reposed on us over the period. While thanking you for honouring this invitation in large numbers despite your crowded schedules, we are confident that your action is a total reflection of our organisation`s mandate to promote peace and unity of Nigeria at all times.

“If you give us peace, you give us everything, but if you give us everything without peace and security, you give us nothing”.

He added, “This is our slogan. Please adopt the slogan in order to secure the future of the nation.

“Our emphasis is on the intellectual property, capacity and creative ability to solve problem, especially as it border on young people, women and vulnerable society instead of bumper acquisition of wealth.”
