Thousands of supporters received Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia in Makurdi, the Benue State capital on Monday, when he embarked on a thank-you tour after the State’s All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary election.
Rev. Fr Alia, who clinched the APC governorship ticket in the State, thanked his teaming supporters for ensuring his victory at the recently concluded party primary election.
It was earlier reported that Fr. Alia defeated Barnabas, a former national chairman of the party and Mike Aondoakaa, a former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) after polling 7,000 votes in the direct primary election.
Prior to the election, the Catholic Diocese of Gboko suspended the priest for involving partisan politics.
