2023 Election: Police warn politicians against disrupting peace in Osun

The Police Command in Osun on Wednesday warned politicians to desist from acts capable of breaching the peace in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, in a statement in Osogbo, noted a trend by unscrupulous elements, who paste posters of political opponents on already pasted ones.

“As the general electoral process and political activities for the forthcoming general elections gather momentum, Osun State Police Command is constrained to draw the attention of all political party leaders, candidates and their supporters to the ongoing trend by some unscrupulous elements to disturb the peace of the state, by pasting posters of political opponents on already pasted ones.

“This action has been causing restiveness and may lead to a breach of the peace if not discontinued by those concerned.

“The Command, therefore, advise parents and guardians to caution their wards who were hired for the purpose of pasting posters to ensure they do not act in a manner that will lead to a breakdown of the already existing peace in the state.

“The command is urging the youths to be law abiding and not allow themselves to be used as tools for nefarious activities,” the statement read.

It further reiterated that the Command would not tolerate any act of thuggery or hooliganism.
