2023 AFCON Qualifier: Five Sierra Leone players Super Eagles should be wary of

Ahead of Sunday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Sierra and Nigeria, sport analyst spotted five Leone Stars who could hurt the Super Eagles in the encounter

Steven Caulker
The centre-back is the most experienced player in the Leone Stars squad. Caulker battled injury to make the final 23-man squad for the crucial game.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star’s top-level experience will be crucial for John Keister’s side in the game.

The 31-year-old also brings leadership to the table. His experience and aerial prowess will be crucial for his side.

Mustapha Bundu

The winger is one of the most talented players in the team. The FC Andorra of Spain player also possessed superb speed on the ball and create scoring opportunities out of nothing.

Bundu is expected to be a handful for Super Eagles defenders in the encounter.

Augustus Kargbo

The Crotone of Italy forward will be the man to lead the Leone Stars attack in the game. He is a clinical finisher with an eye for goal.

Kargbo’s speed and agility always make him a tough customer for defenders.

Kamil Conteh

The young midfielder is currently on loan at Gateshead from Middlesbrough. He will be tasked with the responsibility of stopping the Super Eagles’ experienced midfielders.

The 20-year-old’s athleticism and passing skills will be vital for his side.

Abu Dumbuya

Dumbuya was part of the Leone Stars squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon. The 24-year-old is expected to pair in midfield.
