Former UEFA Champions League winner, Mikael Silvestre, has picked Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo to win the 2022/23 Premier League Golden Boot.

Ronaldo finished third in the English top-flight’s goal-scoring race for the 2021-22 campaign.

The Portuguese captain scored 18 goals and was beaten only by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Son Heung-min, who both scored 23 times, to share the award.

“Haaland, to win the Golden Boot? I would rather see Cristiano win it,” Silvestre was quoted by Express as saying.

“He was not far off last season with a dysfunctional team, so if United works this season, why not? Teach the young pup there is life in the old dog!”

He added: “With Harry Kane and Mo Salah, we have the best strikers in the Premier League, so whoever wins it will deserve it.”
