2 employees in court for allegedly stealing N5million building materials

A storekeeper, Bayo Ohio and one other, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, charged with stealing building materials valued at N5 million, property of their employer

Ohio, 52, and Folashade Adebayo, 40,  a manager in company, who live at  Ijaiye and Abule Egba, Lagos, respectively, are being prosecuted on charges of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Rapheal Donny, told the court that the offences were committed between October 2022 and Feb. 20, 2023 at  No.10, Olojo St., Off Claim Road, Ijaiye, Lagos State.

Donny said that the defendants allegedly stole some building materials valued at N5million , belonging to Mr Christian Ugwoke, their employer.

Donny said that the stolen items included bundles of packing bags, preform materials, moulds and other building materials kept in the company’s store.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A Odubayo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Odubayo adjourned the case until April 21 for mention.
