11 Passengers Killed in Bangladesh Train and Microbus Collision

11 passengers of a tourist microbus were killed when they were hit by a train in Mirsail,Chittagong, Bangladesh.7 more people were injured in this incident. All the injured were passengers of the microbus.

The incident took place on Friday, July 29 at around 1.30 pm in the upazila’s Khaiachhara area.The homes of all the victims are in Aman Bazar of Hathazari Upazila of Chittagong,Bangladesh.

Mirsail police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mr. Kabir Hossain confirmed the matter.


He said there were 18 passengers in the microbus.11 passengers of the microbus were killed on the spot when they were on their way back after seeing the Khayachara waterfall.7 more people were injured.The condition of five of them is critical.


Mr. Ansar Ali, Divisional Transport Officer of Eastern Railway, said that a microbus carrying tourists from Dhaka to Chittagong got on the line before crossing the level crossing.  After the collision, the microbus got stuck with the engine of the train.  In that situation, the train stopped after pulling the microbus quite a bit.

Railway official Mr. Ansar Ali said, the gateman Saddam threw bamboo when the train arrived.But the microbus pushed the bamboo and fell on the crossing.

However, eyewitness Mr.Mofizul Haque said that Geitman was not present at the time of the accident.  He went to the mosque to offer Friday prayers.

Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mr. Minhazur Rahman said that there were 18 people in the microbus coming from Hathajari.11 of them died on the spot.  The rest have been sent to Chittagong Medical.
