The Kebbi Contributory Healthcare Management Agency has organised a two-day training to educate stakeholders on its operation and healthcare financing.
The training, holding in Sokoto, was organised in collaboration with Integrated Health Programme (IHP).
The Executive Secretary of the scheme, Dr Jafar Mohammad-Augie, said on Tuesday that the agency has the mandate to provide affordable out of pocket health services.
“Our intention is to find the best healthcare services possible for the civil servants, retirees, workers in the organised formal sector and our students studying in various tertiary institutions in the state,” he said.
Muhammad-Augie said the training was to acquaint the stakeholders with the services offered by the agency and address their concerns.
“The rationale behind the workshop is to ensure effective operationalization of the scheme, create awareness and build the capacity of newly posted staff of the agency on the design elements of a contributory health insurance scheme.
“It is to deepen the understanding on key health insurance operations and processes including formal sector participation and develop a roadmap for rollout of enrolment of the formal sector,” he added.
According to reports, the stakeholders comprised labour unions, media, Civil Society Organizations and health professionals, among others.
