“I Can’t Be Intimidated to Resign” – PDP National Chairman Declares, Reveals Ambition

Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Damagum, has said that he cannot be intimidated into resigning from his position.

Damagum made the declaration while speaking at the inauguration of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees.

He expressed frustration with individuals who spread misinformation about the National Working Committee’s operations. He also revealed that the criticism has actually enhanced his popularity, and he is now considering running for the presidency.

“Let me send a message to everyone talking about Damagum this, Damagum that – I cannot be intimidated. The more you mention me, the more popular I become,” Damagum said.

Earlier in the week, there were indications that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) might sanction Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu over an alleged letter to the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt.

The letter was seen as an anti-party activity, and some party leaders, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), pushed for action against Damagum and Anyanwu.

The PDP’s NWC has been divided over the Rivers State crisis, pitting Governor Siminalayi Fubara against his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Damagum and Anyanwu allegedly wrote to the Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, requesting that the court ignore a previous letter from PDP National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade.

The earlier letter had announced the party’s withdrawal from a lawsuit involving 25 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December.
