Ahead of the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ajaokuta Local Government Area have resolved on workable strategies to once again ensure victory for the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman.
The meeting which was attended by the House of Representative member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanni Abdulraheem Egidi (SEA), Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Hon. Bako Samson, the Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba, Assembly Member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Jibril Abu, Hon Yakubu Yusuf, the APC party chairman and several others, expressed readiness to canvas support for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman.
While addressing the meeting which was held in Adogo, the Local Government Headquarters, Hon. Sanni Abdulraheem Egidi said the victory of the APC during the presidential, National Assembly and state assembly elections can be repeated for Alhaji Ododo and Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu in November.
Hon. Sanni further enjoined the stakeholders to embrace new decampees to the party, noting that all hands must be on deck to deliver for the APC.
He expressed gratitude to the former Assembly candidate in the last general election, Prince Haruna Ganaja, the Woman Leader of Gadumo Community, Mrs David Roseline Agu, and other former PDP members who recently joined the APC, saying that their defection will result in bulk votes for the ruling party in the governorship poll.
On his part, the member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Jibril Abu appreciated the people for their support in the previous elections, adding that the empowerment programme recently implemented by him within 100 days in office was a tip of the iceberg.
Hon. Abu who emphasized the need to have a peaceful poll in November, said the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello in the areas of security, education, infrastructural development, youth and women inclusiveness in governance among others, are enough grounds to win the election for Alhaji Ododo.
“We have confidence in the capacity of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman because he has been mentored properly by Governor Yahaya Bello. All we need in Kogi State is the consolidation of the gains of the current administration”, he said.
The Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Mustapha Aka’aba had earlier suggested the need for all the stakeholders to break into units with clear responsibilities in order to convince more people at the grassroots.
The Executive Chairman while eulogizing Governor Yahaya Bello for the timely release of post subsidy removal palliative, assured the people of Ajaokuta Local Government Area that everybody regardless of political affiliations would benefit from the gesture.
While assuring the stakeholders of overwhelming support in Ganaja axis of the LGA, Prince Haruna Ganaja said there is virtually no opposition to the APC in his stronghold, adding that the stiff resistance and opposition hitherto faced by the APC in the previous elections has been neutralized by his defection and hundreds of his supporters to the APC.
On his part, the APC chairman reiterated the commitment of the party to deliver at the November poll. He added that APC is a party widely accepted because of the quality leadership experience by the people of Kogi State and Ajaokuta in particular
The stakeholders therefore agreed to unanimously set up committees to embark on door-to-door sensitisation for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman and also kick-start APC ward meetings. They also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Ajaokuta at the local, state and federal levels under the platform of the governing All Progressive Congress.
