Tinubu’s Interventions Reaching Poor Nigerians, Says Sokoto Gov

‎Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has described as propaganda the opposition campaign claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not impacted the lives of Nigerians in the last three years.

‎Governor Aliyu said this on Sunday during a One-Day National Symposium with the theme “Enhanced Political Participation and Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria,” held in Jos, Plateau State, and organised by the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS).

‎“If you don’t see Tinubu’s impact on Nigerians, you’re not in Nigeria,” Aliyu said, insisting that the President’s contributions to the people are visible across the country.

‎

‎“Let us know the facts about everything, anybody that is saying there is no food support, food availability or assistance for poor Nigerians, he is not in Nigeria.

‎

‎“We should know that food is available. We know the government has given free fertilizer. We know the government gives necessary assistance to help the poor. All these kinds of support have been documented. We have documented everything and given it to the governor of Yobe State.

‎

‎“All what President Tinubu has done is available and visible. Nigerians would see them,” Governor Aliyu said.

‎

‎While calling on Nigerians to consider re-electing President Tinubu, the governor expressed confidence that President Tinubu would not disappoint the country.

‎

‎In attendance were Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, deputy Senate, Barau Jibrin, among other dignitaries.

‎

‎However, the opposition has dismissed the administration’s assessment of its economic records.

‎

‎Recently, the presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, dismissed the defence of the Tinubu administration’s economic policies by Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, describing it as “as a desperate exercise in revisionism”.

‎

‎In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the minister’s claims on public debt, subsidy removal, debt servicing and workers’ welfare collapse under the weight of publicly available facts.

‎

‎Atiku said that no amount of polished presentations can whitewash the economic suffering inflicted on Nigerians.

‎

‎The former Vice President said the claim that savings from the removal of fuel subsidies are being used to offset liabilities inherited from previous administrations is fundamentally misleading.

‎

‎Atiku’s position sharply contrasted with that of Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who maintained that the Federal Government’s interventions, particularly those targeted at food security and vulnerable Nigerians, demonstrate the impact of Tinubu’s policies.
