INEC 2027 proposed budget of N873bn not too much – Ex-Director, Osaze-Uzzi

‎former Director of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, says the Commission’s 2027 proposed budget of N873bn is not too much.

‎Osaze-Uzzi made this statement on Thursday in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

‎News reports that INEC had proposed a budget of N873.78 billion for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

‎Reacting, Osaze-Uzzi said, “When we look back at the budget for the 2023 elections, I don’t think there has been any exponential growth in what is being presented to the Assembly now.

‎“I expect the National Assembly to look closely at it, look at the rate of inflation, and scrutinise the breakdown to ensure there’s efficient utilisation and allocation of resources.

‎“Hopefully, we’ll get it right with the logistics. Good budget for logistics, for trading, for technological innovations in the system. All these have to be taken into consideration.”
