2 unemployed men docked for allegedly swindling trader of N11,000

Two unemployed men were on Monday docked in an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly swindling a trader of N11,000.

The police charged Mohammed Abubakar, 48, and Thompson Ola, 42, of Karmajiji village, Abuja with joint act and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju. told the court that sometime in September the defendants walked into the complainant’s shop and collected three bottles of perfumes worth N11,000 with a promise to transfer same electronically.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 79 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Hassan Mohammed granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each who must live within the court jurisdiction and their address must be verified by the court officer and police.

Mohammed ordered that the sureties national ID card or drivers License be kept in court.

He adjourned the case until Dec. 22 for further hearing.
