‘You will eat your words’: El-Rufai reacts after X user said his political career is finished

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has replied to a critic on social media who claimed that he has been silenced and can no longer be outspoken.

The social media user identified as Eureka with username @Archimeokey on X claimed that the former governor was finished and could no longer comment on national issues, as he was known to be outspoken. He alleged that El-Rufai now hides behind the “ink” of other critics.

“El-Rufai is gone. He is finished politically. He now hides behind other people’s ink to write and their mouths to talk. The big-mouthed Elrufail can’t talk anymore,” he tweeted.

However, responding to the critics, the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who has become a major critic of President Bola Tinubu since he dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), vowed that Eureka will eat his words after the 2027 election.

El-Rufai noted that the social media user should save his tweet for March 1, 2027, when he would be speaking on the outcome of the next presidential election.

El-Rufai, who supported the election of Tinubu in 2023, has heavily criticised the current administration after being screened out as a ministerial nominee by the Senate.

In March, the former governor announced that he had joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing a growing disconnect between his values and the direction of the APC.

El-Rufai, alongside the likes of former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, among others, are leading the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition to remove Tinubu through the ballot in 2027.
