Yoruba should vote Buhari to honour my father – Abiola’s son

Published

on

Son of the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola, Jamiu on Saturday urged the Yoruba to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring his father.

Jamiu, who is a member of the Directorate of Contact and Mobilisation of the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, described Buhari as a detribalised leader.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Jamiu said Buhari should not be described anywhere as tribalistic, adding that if he was, he would not have honoured his father 25 years after the annulment of the election.

He urged the Yoruba to reelect Buhari on February 16 so as not to betray Abiola and his slain wife, Kudirat, in their graves.

He said, “People have to understand that any man that can honour a victory won by another man from another tribe is not a tribalist. If he was tribalistic, he would not have done what he did to M.K.O Abiola.

“Buhari had even said in the letter of honour that June 12 is more important than the Independence Day, Nigerians should understand that and I believe that the Yoruba that I know will not betray Chief M.K.O Abiola in his grave by voting against a man who honoured him.

“The Yoruba are known to appreciate and value anybody who genuinely does something good for them genuinely.’’

Buhari’s Dementia is Now a National Emergency

Published

President Buhari

President Buhari

By Farooq Kperogi

On November 23, 2018, I tweeted that a doctor who has met Buhari told me that Buhari shows tell-tale symptoms of dementia (of which Alzheimer’s disease is a type), which is characterized by repetitiveness, unawareness, mental deterioration, impaired memory, diminished quality of thought, slurred speech, and finally complete helplessness.

A non-medical person whose dad has dementia and who has met Buhari in the recent past had earlier told me Buhari’s dementia was worse than her dad’s was. She was concerned that Nigeria had no president. She’s right. Buhari barely has any awareness of his existence, much less the requirements of being president. For instance, he has signed several documents he would never have signed if he were mentally alert. And it’s only going to get progressively worse.

That’s precisely why he had been hidden from the public for long. The people who are bent on imposing him on Nigeria know he is a human vegetable but don’t want the world to know about this. Nevertheless, with his disastrously cringe-worthy performance at yesterday’s #NgTheCandidates chat and his awkward, pity-inspiring verbal miscues on the campaign trail, the cat is now out of the bag.

Buhari’s problems aren’t mere “senior moment” problems that I wrote about in a widely shared 2015 column. In fact, the doctor who told me Buhari has dementia (and possibly Alzheimer’s) read my 2015 article where I explained away Buhari’s “Michelle of Western Germany” gaffe as age-induced memory lapse, which is informally called senior moments in America. He said it was beyond that. It’s a clear case of progressive, irreversible cognitive decline.

Buhari does not remember the day he was sworn in. He couldn’t tell a “presidential candidate,” a “senatorial candidate” and a “gubernatorial candidate” apart. He didn’t remember when he was Petroleum Minister. He slumped at a campaign rally in Kogi and his aides didn’t seem shocked, indicating that this is a fairly habitual occurrence beyond the glare of cameras. That’s evidence of weakened motor skills, which is another symptom of dementia.

If you think with Buhari as president Nigeria has a president, you should sue your brain for non-support; you’re NOT thinking! We have a national emergency on our hands. Buhari is clearly infirm both in mind and in body. Without a doubt, other people are ruling on his behalf. If Nigeria were a functional nation, the National Assembly would’ve declared him incapacitated and removed him from office. And he would certainly not be a candidate for president. He should go and rest, not rule because he is actually ruining, not ruling, Nigeria.

Nigeria earned $640.35m from Crude export in Oct – NNPC

Published

on

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says the country earned 640.35 million dollars from the export of crude oil and gas for the month of October, 2018.

The corporation disclosed this in its monthly Financial and Operation report for October 2018, released in Abuja on Wednesday.

It said that the total export receipt of 640.35 million dollars recorded in October 2018 was higher than the 527.70 million dollars logged in September 2018.

It added that the receipt showed 450.44 million dollars accrued from crude oil sale with gas and miscellaneous receipts standing at 173.92 million and 15.99 million dollars respectively.

In the downstream sector, the report revealed that the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a downstream subsidiary of NNPC, posted a receipt of ₦231.33 billion from sales of white products in the month of October 2018 compared with ₦150.25 billion sold in September 2018.

“Total revenues generated from the sales of white products for the period October 2017 to October 2018 stand at ₦2.684 trillion, where PMS contributed about 88.32 per cent of the total sales value of ₦2.371 trillion.

“To ensure continuous increase of PMS supply and effective distribution across the country, a total of 1.66 billion litres of petrol, translating to 55.50 milion liters/day, were supplied for the month under review,’’ it said

The report further noted that out of the 1,066.88 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd) of gas supplied to the domestic market in October 2018, about 627.33 mmscfd of gas representing 58.81 per cent was supplied to gas-fired power plants to generate an average power of about 2,349MW.

This, it said when compared with the September 2018, was an average of 615 mmscfd supplied to generate 2,303MW.

“The balance of 439.35 mmscfd or 41.19 per cent was supplied to other industries.’’ It said

Similarly, the reported noted that for the period of October 2017 to October 2018 an average of 1,188.58 mmscfd of gas was supplied to the domestic market, comprising of an average of 744.06 mmscfd or (62.60 per cent) as gas supply to the power plants and 444.52 mmscfd or (37.40 per cent) as gas supply to industries.

It added that about 3,096.18 mmscfd or 89.58 per cent of the export gas was sent to Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG) Bonny.

On Pipeline vandalism, the Corporation raised an alarm on the increasing incidents of pipeline vandalism across the country.

It said that in October its pipeline network suffered a 42.9 per cent increase in the incidents of vandalism compared to the previous month during the year.

Giving a breakdown of the incidents of breaches in its infrastructure it said the corporation recorded 219 pipeline vandalised points in the month under review, compared to 125 incidents it suffered in September of the same year.

It revealed that among the breaches, four vandalised pipeline points failed to be welded and one point was ruptured.

The report stated that cases of vandalism of pipeline facilities were high along Ibadan-Ilorin and Aba-Enugu axis, accounting for 81 (40%) and 39 (18%) vandalized points respectively.

It added that in spite the challenge posed by pipeline vandalism, the NNPC kept an eye on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) stock level to ensure zero fuel queue across the nation.

Obiano lauds Buhari over Zik Mausoleum, Niger Bridge

Published

on

Governor Willie Obiano

Governor Willie Obiano

Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, has expressed satisfaction with the standard and pace of work on the Second Niger Bridge as he also thanked the Buhari administration for completing the Zik Mausoleum.

The Mausoleum is located at the popular Borome in Onitsha, the commercial nerve of Anambra, and home of the first President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Obiano spoke on Tuesday during visits to the mausoleum and the Second Niger Bridge.

He said the completion of the mausoleum by the Buhari administration was an immeasurable honour to Anambra people and the entire South-East people.

Obiano said that previous administrations paid lip services to the project, resulting to its abandonment for more than 20 years.

The governor also appealed to the Federal Government to step up action in the procurement of necessary facilities for the library section.

He said it would be nice to have everything in place before the visit of Mr President to Anambra in a few weeks time for the inauguration of the mausoleum.

“President Buhari is determined to keep to his promises on the Zik’s mausoleum.

“ The project is an honour to Zik of Africa, who played major roles in shaping the nation.

“This project started 23 years ago and we must thank President Buhari for keeping to his words,’’ Obiano said

The governor was visibly happy with the extent of work done so far at the site of the second Niger Bridge.

He said he was confident that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari would deliver on the job as scheduled.

He noted that the bridge, when completed, would not only boost the economic activities of the South-East and South-South but that of the whole country.

“I have no choice than to praise President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination in the implementation of other federal government projects in the state and other states in the region,” he said.

The Project Director, Julius Berger Construction Company, Mr Fredrick Wieser, explained that the construction would be in three phases.

Wieser noted that the federal government has already made advance payment of 15 per cent which amounted to N30 billion as mobilisation fee.

According to him, the bridge will be 1.6 km, while the access road from Asaba axis will be 3.3 km and 7km from Anambra respectively.

“Right now, we are doing foundation work in the river which will be 50 metres deep.

“The pilling work in the river will be 15 metres above water level to allow free flow of ships,’’ he said.

He, however, pointed out that with the determination of the present administration, the project would be delivered on or before Feb. 28, 2022.
