War: CCB commissioners accuse chairman, Isah of corrupt practices

The six federal commissioners of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, have written petition the Senate, accusing the chairman of the anti-graft commission, Prof. Mohammed Isah of corrupt practices.

It was even said Isah was providing cover for the alleged N109 billion loot involving the erstwhile Accountant-General of the federation, AGF, Ahmed Idris.

In the petition to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, the commissioners led by Dr. Emmanuel Attah explained that within the last four years, Isah has been blocking investigations against some public officers with multi-million and billion assets undeclared in their asset declaration forms.

But the chairman of the Senate Committee, Senator Ayo Akinyelure (PDP Ogun Central) at the weekend summoned the CCB chairman who failed to appear last Friday to unfailingly appear Thursday October 6, for his defence.

However, Akinyelure said: “The petition before this committee on allegations against the Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB bordering on corrupt practices is worrisome and must be here to defend himself

“The seriousness of the matter lies in the fact that the petitioners are even the six federal commissioners appointed to be working with him in the fight against corruption.

“The commissioners are here but the chairman who is in the eye of the storm is not here. We have gone through all the issues raised in the jointly signed petition by the commissioners and they are very disturbing if eventually proven”.

Other dissatisfied are commissioners Prof. Folorunsho Ogundare, Elder Ubolo Okpanachi, Ken Madaki Alkali, Murtala Kankia and Sa’ad Abubakar.
