The Kogi Central Media Practitioners Association (KOCEMPA), has charge the new Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) of the Graphic newspaper, Yusuf Jimoh Itopa and his management team to use the medium to project the good image of Kogi State and the efforts of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, aimed at bringing accelerated development to the state.
The Acting President of the Association, Alhaji Ibrahim-Isa Amoka who gave this charge on Wednesday when members of the group paid a visit to the MD/CEO, stressed the need for the organization to beam it’s searchlight on those good things the government is doing to improve the living standard of the ordinary people of the state.
He Commended the Governor for his achievements in the areas of a robust intervention in agriculture to guarantee food security, ensuring security of life and prosperity of citizens, youth and women empowerment and the recent appointments of Ward Special Assistants, (WSAs), which he said has brought governance closer to the people at the grass.
The president assured the governor that the Association will continue to use it’s platform as the voice of the people of central to continue to project the activities of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, which he noted has positively impact on the lives of the people of the state.
Earlier the MD/CEO of the graphic newspaper, YusufJimoh Itopa commended the initiative of the founders of the Association, which he said was aimed a projecting the good image of Kogi Central to the outside world.
He noted, that haven followed the activities of the Association from inception, he is of the believe that group has become a very strong voice for the people of Kogi Central and urged them to keep up the good work.
The MD assured the governor and the people of the state that the graphic newspaper will be become one of most sorted newspapers in Nigeria.
He thanked the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the support the newspaper had received and has continue to receive from him, which he said has kept the newspaper on the news stand and competing favourably with other national papers in Nigeria.
Speaking further, he said “I want to assure His Excellency that the management of the graphic newspaper will not disappoint him and the Kogi people in general. We are going to use the paper as a platform to project all the positive things the governor is already embarking on.
“The recent minimum wage of 72,500 which is 2,500 higher than the federal is a master stroke. This is proactive governance and will in the graphic newspaper will continue to tell this good tidings and many more.
“I always want to commend the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo for his tireless efforts at ensuring that graphic becomes the number one sorted newspaper in Nigeria. Thank you Sir for sharing and believing in our vision for more stronger and reliable newspaper.
In his remarks, the Executive Editor of the newspaper, James Oyewole lauded the initiative of KOCEMPA and assured them of the support and collaboration of the graphic newspaper.
Oyewole who is also a strong member of KOCEMPA, urged the Association to coming with programmes that will promote unity and progress of Kogi Central.
