UK state visit: Tinubu holds closed door meeting with PM Starmer

‎President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held a closed door meeting with the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street in London as part of his official visit to the United Kingdom.

‎The two leaders did not address the press after the meeting.

‎But when asked of the outcome, Tinubu stated “very good”.

‎It is expected that the meeting will deepen relations between both Nigeria and the UK.

‎Tinubu’s visit will culminate in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding and agreements covering trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.

‎A statement by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga said a major highlight of the visit will be President Tinubu witnessing the signing of a landmark £746 million financing deal between the UK Export Finance, UKEF, the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, and the Federal Ministry of Finance Nigeria.

‎The agreement is aimed at supporting the refurbishment of key maritime infrastructure, including the Lagos Port Complex and the Tin Can Island Port Complex.
