The Nigerian under-17 female volleyball team on Monday in Abuja, defeated their Cameroonian rivals 3-1 in their second match of the ongoing 2023 Girls’ U17 African Nations Volleyball.
According to reports, the match was played at Moshood Abiola Stadium’s Package B, with the Nigerian girls seeking vengeance for their previous loss to Egypt.
The Nigerian girls lost the opening set by a score of 19-25, but came back to win the next three.
The second set was won 25-20, the third set was won 25-13, and the fourth set was won 25-22.
Cameroonian girls fought back, but they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
After the game, Nigeria team coach, Sunday Akapson stated that they cannot celebrate yet because they still have matches to play.
“Congratulations to the girls for the work well done, this is just a starting point for us.
“We are meeting them again on Wednesday in the semi-final and we want to assure you that the girls will replicate this victory,” he said.
