The Many Faces of Social Media: Why Your Posts Matter

BY ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM

Social media is a space where people share their thoughts, personal experiences, and trending topics, especially now, when data costs have skyrocketed, making every post a deliberate effort. Many creators aren’t just posting for monetisation; they do it to inform, entertain, or simply connect and sometimes to.release stress.

The Different Types of Social Media Users:

1.The Silent Readers:They consume content but never engage. (Monitoring Spirits)👻🤮

2.The Critics–:They scan posts just to find flaws and react. 🙄

3.The Quick Judges:They don’t read thoroughly but form instant opinions. 😔⚔️

4.The Comment Section Lurkers:
They skip the post and head straight to the reactions for entertainment. 😂🏃

These are the kinds of people you’ll find online. But here’s the thing: many content creators aren’t posting for profit, they’re doing it for fun, passion, or simply to keep others informed.

Whenever I go silent on social media, friends who follow me often reach out via calls or DMs to check if I’m okay. That’s how much your content affects people…even when you don’t realise it.

I still remember an Italian artist on LinkedIn messaged me, saying he’d been following my entertainment posts and wanted me to write a piece on him. That recognition felt amazing. There’s also a talented reggae artiste I met on Facebook who now checks on me whenever I’m inactive. He’s now a family friend. These connections remind me that social media is more than just a platform, it’s a community. I’ve had the opportunity to meet lots of international and local personalities who we had interviews, published on LEADERSHIP Newspaper and many other platforms.

Whether you post daily or just scroll, social media is a place to unwind, share, and stay informed. If you’re making money from it, great! But even if you’re not, keep expressing yourself, you never know who you’re inspiring, informing , educating or are being motivated with your words.

So post, engage, or simply observe, but never underestimate the power of your presence online. Someone out there needs what you share.
