Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected a new office allocated to him by the Senate Services Committee, citing that it is not befitting for his rank as one of the most senior members in the 10th Senate.
In a letter to the committee chairman, Senator Sunday Karimi, Ndume stated that according to Senate Standing Orders, he deserves an office on the fourth floor, similar to his ranking counterparts.
The letter, signed by Ndume’s Chief Confidential Secretary, Yati Shuaibu Gawu, said that office allocation is traditionally based on seniority.
The letter reads:
“I am directed to inform you that Distinguished Senator Mohammed All Ndume has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee.
“This is because offices are traditionally allocated on seniority basis.
“Sen Ndume is the most Senior Senator after Sen Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor.”
Ndume’s rejection of the office allocation comes after he was recently stripped of his position as Majority Whip and vice chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Appropriation due to his comments deemed detrimental to the party and the Bola Tinubu-led administration.
The Senator also rejected his new appointment as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism.
