A Former Kogi State commissioner of Information in the Administration of Former Governor Ibrahim Idris, Dr. Tom Ohikere, has described the failed recall of the Suspended Senator, representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as an abortion before pregnancy.

Dr. Ohikere who was reacting to the rejection of the recall petition, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the ground that it fails to meet constitutional requirements , said It was planned in error and was therefore meant to fail.

Speaking further he said “it was an avoidable and expensive miscalculation by those who planned it.

He added that the Kogi Central people are very politically conscious and knows exactly what is good for them and wouldn’t have chosen darkness over light

“The Kogi Central people are one of the finest when it comes to political calculation. They are aware of what Senator Natasha has achieved for them in just one year. She has been able to bring governance closer to her constituents through adequate and effective representation.

“They know exactly what is good for them and the community, so they cannot jettison light for darkness.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) for choosing the part of honour and constitutionality. “I want them to continue to uphold this in their future dealings.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Thursday ruled that the petition to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, does not meet the necessary legal requirements.

INEC announced this decision on Thursday through an update on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The electoral commission stated that the petition failed to fulfill the conditions set under Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Constituents from Kogi Central had submitted the recall petition to INEC last month. The petition was accompanied by six bags filled with documents containing signatures said to have been gathered from over half of the 474,554 registered voters in the district.
