Sani: Appointment based on ethnicity not enough, consider justice, equity, tolerance

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has warned against considering ethnicity in appointments into state government offices.

Sani cautioned state governors against appointing Hausas, Igbos, and Yorubas into state government offices.

He said appointments should be based on justice, equity, tolerance, and not ethnicity.

Tweeting, Sani wrote: “Appointing Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas into State Government offices is not enough. Let there be tolerance, justice and equity for all Nigerians and let all Nigerians be allowed to live freely and peacefully in any part of the country they choose to.

“We have seen all these sorts of appointments since 1999. What is the use of appointing a Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo man in a state where people of his ethnic group are not allowed to stay or live in peace?”
