Protesters block roads and hold Sunday service in Plateau, Benin despite Tinubu’s plea

Protesters in Benin, Edo State, and Jos, Plateau State have organised church services on Sunday as part of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, which began on Thursday.

The #EndBadGovernance protesters organized a church service on the road, symbolizing their commitment to peaceful demonstration and unity in their cause.

The development comes hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a nationwide broadcast appealed to the demonstrator to spend the action.

The President who claimed to have heard them loud and clear, emphasized the need for national unity and the cessation of violence and destruction.

He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and the damage to properties in various states, urging citizens to work together for a brighter future.

However, protesters in Benin remain resolute. Gathering in large numbers, they held a peaceful church service on the road, singing hymns and praying for the nation.

One protester, Chinedu Obasi, shared, “We are here to show that our fight for justice and good governance is rooted in peace and faith. We respect our President, but we need real change, and we will not be silenced.”

Similarly, Christians participating in the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest in Plateau State held a Sunday service at the protest ground in Old Airport Junction in Jos.

Onyii Egbuche, tweeting as #Arthur0287, disclosed this in a series of pictures and videos shared on X.com on Sunday.

One of his captions read, “Protest Day 4: Christians and Muslims jubilating during Sunday service at the protest ground.”

Another user, #witty_cruz, shared pictures with the caption, “Day 4: Protesters and Christians hold Sunday service at the protest ground in Jos. A beautiful sight to behold.”

Nigerians began the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest on Thursday, August 1, to draw the attention of the government to the hardships faced by citizens.
