Protest: kogi Govt. Organises 2 day youth engagement submit

In its avowed commitment to enhancing capacities of youths ,and to keep them off from the streets ,the kogi state government has scheduled Wednesday and Thursday for the youth engagement summit across the state.

The summit which is expected to draw no fewer than 3,000 youths , students and citizens of allied minds with the theme” Role of Nigerian Youth in Nation building, unlocking potential, empowering the future ” would be a platform for sharing ideas and engage in discussions on critical issues facing the state and Nigeria at large.

In a world press conference jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth , sport Development and Ministry of Information and communications in collaboration with youth Council’s and students’ bodies held on Tuesday in the conference hall of NUJ in Lokoja.

Addressing the media, commissioner for youth and sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe noted that the role of youth in Nation building cannot be overemphasised , hence , constant dialogue to keep them in tune with current happenings within their environment becomes imperative.

He added that the two day summit will harness the incredible and latent potentials of the youth, providing them with the necessary knowledge and inspiration needed to contribute meaningfully to the development of kogi state.

The commissioner revealed that the event will showcase the talents of young people in the field of Technology, Arts , sports and talkshows etc , stressing that at the end of the summit , they will be adequately empowered to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

He commended Gov’Ododo for his impeccable commitment to the growth and development of the youths in the state assuring him that at the end of the day kogi youths will be able to own their lives and to detest acts inimical to the development of the state.

In a remark, the commissioner for information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo called on the youths to attend the summit enmasse in order to discuss issues that will enhance their self worth and self reliance in a fast changing world.

He appealed to them not to be lured by the enemies of the country to participate in the forthcoming planned protest, rather to focus on the efforts the government making to providing solutions to the economic hardship facing the country.
