Police deploy SWAT, anti-kidnapping, cultism squad for Eid-ul-Kabir in Ogun

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, said he has deployed specialized units, including SWAT, Monitoring, Anti-Kidnapping, and the Anti-Cultism squads to strategic locations across the state to prevent crime and ensure a hitch-free Sallah.

Ogunlowo noted that these operatives will cover praying grounds, public facilities, banks, event/recreation centers statewide.

The Commissioner stated this in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, and made available to reporters on Thursday.

According to the statement, extended patrols with sister agencies have also been enhanced at flash points, including Onigari, Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, and Abeokuta, with officers conducting stop-and-search operations.

Part of the statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo Ph.D., has deployed extensive motorized patrol and tactical assets across the state to ensure a crime-free Sallah.

“Specialized units, including SWAT, Monitoring, Anti-Kidnapping, and Anti-Cultism sections, have been strategically positioned to prevent violent crime.

“In order to keep up with security, Divisional Police Officers, supervised by Area Commanders, will patrol their jurisdictions while joint task force operations with sister agencies will secure border towns.”

The commissioner, while felicitating with Muslim faithfuls, implored citizens to cooperate with all security agencies for a safer environment.
