Police deploy operatives to Ministry of Justice, Abuja ahead of #FreeDeleFarotimi protest

In anticipation of the #FreeDeleFarotimi protest, police have deployed operatives to the Ministry of Justice in Abuja.

This comes as activists prepare for demonstrations in support of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, who is facing legal charges due to allegations of defaming prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola.

Farotimi, who has been vocal in his criticism of Nigeria’s judicial system, is accused of making defamatory statements against Babalola in his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.

The protests, organized by the Take It Back Movement, aim to call attention to what activists describe as an unjust prosecution.

Despite police warnings, the movement has vowed to proceed with rallies in Abuja, Lagos, Ekiti, London, and Toronto.

Police presence has been intensified at key locations, particularly in Abuja, where security forces are bracing for possible unrest.

While the protesters have yet to arrive, the authorities are maintaining a watchful stance, prepared to manage any developments.
