Plateau Governor Explains Delay in Awarding New Contracts in his Administration

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has lamented the existence of numerous abandoned projects left behind in different parts of the state by past administrations

He said his government had not deemed it fit to award new contracts for new projects in the past one year since his administration began to enable him to work and complete the abandoned projects for the benefit of the people.

Mutfwang made this known on Friday during a meeting with journalists in Jos as part of activities to mark his first year in office.

He condemned the negative impacts that uncompleted projects had on the socio-economic development of the state

maintained that his government would always make decisions in the best interest of the state and the people who elected him to power

The governor said, “In the past one year, what we have done is an attempt to stabilize the system. We haven’t gone anywhere in what we want to do.

“We have not awarded new contracts. All we have tried to do is revisit existing contracts because we realize that abandoning contracts is penny-wise and pound-foolish to the public treasury.

“We believe that government is a continuum and even if you didn’t like the government that left, you have a responsibility to the public to continue with what is of benefit to them”

The governor called on the people to continue to support his administration to enable it to take the state to greater heights.

“I want to appreciate the people how they have appreciated our interventions in terms of infrastructure, the road networks that we have tried to improve and we will continue to improve them.

“We will always believe in citizens participation. When people give us feedback about the quality of those works, we receive them and make sure that they are properly done so that the people can get value for their money,” governor added.
