PDP will continue to lose’: Wike says sidelining him will lead to PDP’s burial

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will continue to lose if the problems in the party are not resolved.

The former governor described the ongoing defections in the party as embarrassing, saying he saw it coming long before the tsunami started.

Wike stated this on Friday during his monthly media parley in Abuja, insisting that everything he said about the PDP has come to pass.

He said: “Right from day one, I’ve said it that with what is going on, if it continues to go on, PDP will continue to lose. Things are not done properly and we will regret it. And that’s what it’s today. “It’s very embarrassing. One of the governors was the chairman of the convention committee. It’s very embarrassing. Even though I know they were all playing games. I said it from the beginning. There’s nothing I said that haven’t come to pass. Tell me one.”

The minister also spoke on why he was not consulted in the ongoing efforts to salvage the party, saying it is because he no longer holds a governorship position.

“I am the FCT Minister. Are you telling me that because I am not a governor, you will hold a PDP stakeholders’ meeting and exclude me, and then expect the party to survive?” he queried.

He added, “Assuming I am not a minister, by the role I have played in the PDP till now, is it right to say I cannot be consulted in taking decisions of the party? Certainly not.”

The former Rivers governor has maintained his support for President Tinubu, a move seen by some of his party men as anti-party activities.

Wike has denied any act of anti-party activity, saying he is simply working for the progress of Nigeria by taking the role of the FCT minister under the APC-led administration.
