Grassroots for Itesiwaju Ipinle Oyo has urged Governor Seyi Makinde to stop coercing school directors to embark on campaigns in schools across Oyo state.
The group, which alleged that school directors have been campaigning on behalf of the governor to realise his second-term ambition next Saturday, made the disclosure via a statement made available to Newsmen on Thursday.
The group in the statement issued by its convener, Dr Bello Razaq, condemned in strong terms the alleged N450 million bribe given to directors of schools, who allegedly have been moving from one school to another to coerce teachers and telling pupils to inform their parents to vote for the governor in the forthcoming election.
Advising the directors of schools, headmasters, principals and teachers to be wary of risking their careers in support of the governor, Razaq maintained that Makinde intended to use the civil servants for selfish gains.
He enjoined the governor to focus on how to restore over 50 schools which were recently delisted by the West African Examination Council, WAEC, over examination malpractices.
“We wish to remind the bribed director of schools to retrace their missteps. They should not allow politicians to ruin their careers because of peanuts,” he warned.
