All is set as the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has set the date for the conduct of the local government elections in the state for Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Chairman of the Commission, Segun Oladitan disclosed this at a press conference on Monday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had early last week warned the Commission and the outgoing All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in Osun State against such a move.
The PDP described it as an illegality that contravened the law.
While noting that the exercise conflicts with the provisions of the law, the Osun PDP had described the planned election as a futile effort, adding that it was an attempt to plunge the state into further financial mess.
The party also called for Oladitan’s arrest.
