Ondo state police station set ablaze by protesters

Angry youths in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State, have allegedly set fire to a police division following reports that a boy died in police custody due to alleged torture.

The incident sparked widespread protests after it was learned that the victim’s friend remains in a coma at a hospital.

The unrest escalated with another building reportedly being set ablaze during the chaos.

The Nation reports that in response to the escalating situation, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi has left Akure for Ifon to restore order and prevent further violence.

The development comes amid heightened security concerns in Ondo State, where authorities remain on alert over potential threats from extremist groups.
