Ogun @ 50: Abiodun declares Feb 3 public holiday

‎The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a public holiday to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.


‎The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.


‎Ogun State, popularly known as the Gateway State, was created on 3 February 1976. The Golden Jubilee celebrations are expected to feature a series of commemorative activities aimed at reflecting on the past, celebrating the present, and projecting a prosperous future for the state.


‎Talabi said the public holiday is intended to allow residents to fully participate in the activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee, which commemorates five decades of Ogun State’s political existence, steady growth, and contributions to national development.


‎According to the statement, the governor called on citizens to celebrate the historic milestone in an atmosphere of unity and peace.
