Objective journalism is the true strength of Bangladesh’s media: DIG

…Inauguration of the New Office of National Daily Protidiner Kagoj

Bangladesh’s national daily Protidiner Kagoj has officially inaugurated its new office at Farmgate in Dhaka. From this office, the newspaper pledged to further strengthen truthful, responsible, and technology-driven journalism.
The inauguration ceremony, held at 10:00 a.m. last Sunday, was presided over by the newspaper’s Editor, Mr. Khairul Alam Rafiq. The chief guest was DIG (Crime Management) at Bangladesh Police Headquarters, Dr. Ashraful Rahman. Special guests included Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohammad Nure Alam, BPM, Barrister Sayem Reza, and Mr. Rubel Shikder.

Among the members of the editorial board present were Senior Joint Editor Mr. Saifuddin Chowdhury Jewel, Mr. Fazlul Karim Bhuiyan Tipu, Executive Editor Mr. Matiur Rahman, News Editor Mr. Khairul Islam Al Amin, Assistant Editor Mr. Jahangir Alam Tapu, Mr. Mohammad Matiur Rahman Khan, Assistant Director (Legal) of Journalist Abuse Prevention Cell Bangladesh Mr. Mohammad Ali Abir, Associate Editor Mr. Khairul Kabir Saymon, Deputy Editor Mr. Siyam Rashid, Resident Editor Mr. Monir Hossain, City Editor Mr. Anik Khan, and Digital In-Charge Mr. Maruf Billah. In addition, senior journalists, media professionals, intellectuals, well-wishers, and distinguished personalities from various walks of life attended the event.


In his speech, chief guest DIG Dr. Ashraful Rahman said that the need for responsible and investigative journalism is greater today than ever before. He noted that Protidiner Kagoj has already played a courageous role in revealing the truth and amplifying the voices of the people.


He added, “Truth, neutrality, and professionalism are the lifeblood of journalism. Journalism is not merely about publishing news; it is a responsibility toward society, the state, and the people.”


Editor Mr. Khairul Alam Rafiq said that from the new Farmgate office, the newspaper would deliver news through a more modern and technology-driven system. He reaffirmed that the paper would remain uncompromising in its stance against injustice, irregularities, and corruption. “Readers’ trust and confidence are our greatest strength,” he said.
He further emphasized that truth, neutrality, and professionalism are the essence of journalism, expressing hope that Protidiner Kagoj would continue to uphold these values. According to him, the newspaper’s mission should be to speak for the people, protest injustice, and create a flow of enlightened thought in society. Journalism, he said, is not only about news dissemination but also about responsibility toward society, the state, and the people.

He added that from this new office, the newspaper would operate with more modern and technology-based management. The paper would remain uncompromising in the fight against injustice, irregularities, and corruption. “The trust and love of our readers are our greatest strength. To uphold that trust, we are committed to publishing objective, verified, and public-interest news.”
With the inauguration of the new office, Protidiner Kagoj reaffirmed its determination to play a stronger role as a conscious and reliable voice in the country’s media landscape.


Through this inauguration, Daily Protidiner Kagoj has begun its new journey with a pledge to become a trusted and awakened voice of public awakening. After the ceremony, guests visited various departments of the new office and wished the newspaper continued success. The formal program concluded with prayers and munajat.
The closing prayers and munajat were led by Maulana Khalilur Rahman Misbah.
