‘Nsukka has lost a voice’ – Enugu lawmaker, Onyechi mourns Senator Ezea

A member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, representing Nsukka West Constituency, Malachy Okey Onyechi, has expressed shock over the death of Senator Okey Ezea.

Ezea until his death represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.

Earlier reported that Ezea passed on Tuesday in Lagos State while receiving treatment.

Onyechi described Senator Ezea’s passing as a major loss to Nsukka Zone and Enugu State, noting that the lawmaker was known for his principled leadership, courage, and commitment to justice and equity.

“It is with deep shock and profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea Nzeogwu (Ideke), Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His untimely death has plunged not only the Nsukka Zone, but the entire Enugu State, into mourning,” Onyechi said.

He said the late Senator was a humble public servant who dedicated himself to the welfare of his constituents and the advancement of the Nsukka cause.

According to him, the late senator’s belief in the history and heritage of his people was reflected in his decision to name his company after the ancient Nsukka identity, Ideke.

The lawmaker extended condolences to the people of Igboeze South Local Government Area, the Itchi community, and the deceased’s family, praying for strength and comfort for his wife, children, and loved ones.

Onyechi noted that Senator Ezea leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication, adding that his death has created a significant void in the political landscape of Igbo Nsukka.
