Nnamdi Kanu: New judge fixes fresh date for resumption of trial

The decision of the new trial judge on the mater was confirmed on Wednesday, March 12, following the transfer of the case file to him after a reassignment by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice John Tsoho.

Recall that Kanu is facing a seven-count trial levelled against him by the Federal Government through the Department of State Service (DSS).

Formerly being tried by Justice Binta Nyako, the IPOB leader had alleged that the former judge over the matter was biased against him.

He had also written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to prevail on the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to reassign his case file to another judge.

Kanu had also refused to appear before Justice Nyako, leading to an indefinite adjournment of his trial by the judge.

In addition, the Chief Judge of the FHC also returned the file to Justice Nyako insisting that the IPOB leader and his legal team file a formal application for the judge’s recusal to be accepted.
