In a significant step towards fostering technological innovation and international collaboration, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, welcomed the Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ivan Kholostenko, on a courtesy visit to the agency’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
The high-level meeting underscored Nigeria and Ukraine’s shared commitment to leveraging digital transformation for improved governance and public service delivery. Discussions centered on knowledge exchange and the deployment of advanced digital solutions to enhance transparency, strengthen institutional efficiency, and drive innovation across key sectors.
The visit aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for a digitally driven public sector, as encapsulated in NITDA’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) 2024-2027. The roadmap prioritizes digital governance, infrastructure development, and international partnerships to position Nigeria as a leading technology hub in Africa.
Speaking at the meeting, Kashifu Inuwa emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in accelerating Nigeria’s digital economy, stating:
“Collaboration with technologically advanced nations like Ukraine provides valuable opportunities for knowledge transfer and capacity building. By leveraging digital solutions, we can enhance service delivery, increase transparency, and improve governance efficiency.”
Ambassador Ivan Kholostenko expressed Ukraine’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Nigeria, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity, e-governance, digital infrastructure, and capacity development.
“Ukraine has a strong digital ecosystem, and we see great potential in working closely with Nigeria to develop cutting-edge solutions that will benefit both nations,” Kholostenko noted.
Ukraine’s expertise in blockchain, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity could play a pivotal role in supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts, especially in enhancing data protection, national security, and smart governance initiatives.
The engagement between NITDA and the Ukrainian Embassy represents a broader effort to position Nigeria as a key player in the global digital economy.
As Nigeria continues to push for a tech-driven economy, partnerships like this signal a strong commitment to international cooperation in the digital space. The NITDA-Ukrainian collaboration could pave the way for groundbreaking projects that will transform public service delivery and governance efficiency in Nigeria.
This development reaffirms NITDA’s proactive approach to digital innovation, ensuring that Nigeria remains at the forefront of technological advancements on the global stage.
