Nigeria is not getting it right over a long period of time. It is evidently clear that the citizens are suffering with the attendant high cost of living not coming down but aggressively going up. There is no serious sign of respite. Obviously those in the economic team who are supposed to help the main driver of Nigerian economy to move in the right direction are clueless, confused and have seemingly lost the compass to take us to the promised land. The wish of an average Nigerian is to see a change in the scheme of things, to see that our government has found its mojo and that the key to the strong room of Nigerian economy is found.
Prior to writing this piece, I knew and was convinced that every voter has the inalienable right to make a choice of who to vote, which should not be denied him or her but I beg for an exception this time of our nascent democracy that we cannot be doing something the same way every now and then, not getting it right and be expecting a change that is positive. With this in mind I make the following contributions to help Nigeria to get better, reason together beyond party affiliations.
The suffering Nigerians are going through is highly unquantifiable, majority of Nigerians are living below poverty level and a nation that was once borrowing money to other nations is now living on loans to do a lot of projects and in serious debts.
As things are going south, it is clearly evident that Nigeria needs help, it needs a leader with vision and anticidents of records that can take Nigeria to the eldorado, a promised land. Nigerians are aware of this situation, they are aware that Nigeria has gambled enough with who to take us out of the gulag. Instead of facing the issues confronting Nigeria headlong, Nigerians rather fall to the traps of sentiments, party blind loyalty and selfishness of collecting pittance at the polling booths.
The serious questions that beg for answers are “Why are we still in Egypt? Are we living under any form of curse as a nation? Is there really a way out?
Nigerians are really aware that Atiku Abubakar the flag ,bearer of PDP has corruption cases on his neck, that even his accomplices outside Nigeria were already convicted by the judicial system of their own country, that Atiku cannot travel to United States of America because of some corruption cases he was alleged to be part of. Nigerians are aware of the frail health of the flag bearer of APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu which could likely be a repeat of the medical tourism of the incumbent president.
Nigerians are aware of the recent killing of Deborah Yakubu Samuel by some Islamic fundamentalists, how Atiku Abubakar deleted his tweet that condemned the killing immediately his fellow Muslim northerners reacted negatively that he has lost their votes. Nigerians are aware of the connection of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s company to the Lekki Toll gate alleged killings on October 20, 2021.
Nigerians are aware that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu have no serious road map to solve Nigerian problems rather they just feel entitled to the no1 position of the country.
Rather than Nigerians being sincere to themselves and be truly patriotic by acting with their PVCs, they will standing behind their parties, become deaf and dumb to what they know to be wrong with their candidates, they will become blind to what they have seen clearly to be wrong.
Then one tend to ask if their actions are normal? I remember the popular biblical parlance “affliction must not occur twice” Their must not be a repeat of the debacle we’re going through presently, Nigerians must truly take Nigeria back. Why do Nigerians wait till every four years to be told the same story, be given some hundreds and thousands at the election centres, then the politicians vanish into thing air until next four years, even when some citizens complain, the politicians say “we have settled them”. For goodness sake, you’re settled with a pittance!
Can Nigerians at this time rise above party affiliations and become one people for the sake of Nigeria.
Nigerians, pity Nigeria!
Children of the mother land pity your mother!
Fellow country men and women let’s come together and reason together! This is a time that true love for Nigeria should prevail, with your decision to bring about a change through your PVCs, since the government promised us change but we couldn’t see any positive change rather, it is negative change we’re seeing.
Yes you’re PDP, you’re APC, you’re Labour Party, you’re NNPP, you’re YPP to mention just a few of the parties it is time the slogan changes “we no dey collect shishi from anybody, cos we wan change Nigeria”. Kindly deny yourself momentary pecuniary gains and protest that you don’t want the material gain they are offering. It is true that anyone offering you money to vote is not being generous rather the fellow is sharing stolen money and sooner or later when he or she gets to power, will surely collect the money back by looting the treasury.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
Please, you’re reminded to go and get your PVC, because it is the only weapon to exercise your civic right to vote and bring about a change.
