NG-CARES: KGCSDA, Trains CPMCs across 3 senatorial districts for P4R

The Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) has trained the Community Project Management Committee and Sub-Committee Members, (CPMCs) in the State for effective implementation and supervision of projects.

The General Manager of KGCSDA, Chief Dauda Momoh in his opening remarks across various training centers in the senatorial districts noted that the CPMC members are to be responsible for the implementation of the project which the various communities have prioritized during the community’s Participatory Rural Appraisal visit to these communities by the Agency.

He stressed that the Community driven project was a result-oriented program that affords Communities to actively design the project of their desire with the aim of bringing development to the rural Communities and cushioning the effect of COVID-19 and increasing the livelihood of the benefiting communities.

The GM further stressed that though the project is time-bound with three months left for communities to execute their projects for the release of funds from the World Bank, he assured that with corporation from each of the community CPMC members in partnership with the agency, the time schedules for each of the phases of the project to be executed would be accurate to catch up with the deadline.

Chief Momoh further promised that the team will not relent at actualizing the Federal Government’s objective of setting up NG-CARES while calling on the representatives of the various Communities at the training to accord all necessary attention to the training.

Chief Dauda O. Momoh also praised the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his support of the NG-CARES Programme, he described the Governor as one of the supportive Governors in Nigeria to this project targeted at moving hundreds of millions out of poverty in the two-year program cycle.

The presentations made at the Training include Overview of NG-CARES (including the Programme Development Objective (PDO)/Community Driven Development (CDD) Concept); Key issues in CDP/GrDP Formulation, Gender & Vulnerable Issues Mainstreaming; Financial Management, Bookkeeping; Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation; Community Contracting & Procurement; Operations, Maintenance and Project Sustainability; Environmental Management & Social Safeguard; Grievance Redress Mechanism; Grievance Redress Mechanism; Report Writing and Documentation amongst others.

NG-CARES is a Federal Project in collaboration with the State Governments to expand access to livelihood, food security services, and grants for poor and vulnerable groups among others.

Part of the communities that were trained across the three senatorial districts whose projects are scheduled to be flagged off immediately after this training ie Gboloko (Bassa), Takete (Bassa) Angwa-Agebe (Ankpa), Abache (Ankpa), Adavi – Eba, Eyika, Apata-Ipatun, Asanta, Bagido, Iluke – Bunu, among others.
