Measles Takes Toll: 42 Fatalities Recorded in Adamawa

At least 42 persons have died of measles in Mubi and Gombi local government areas of Adamawa State.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame, disclosed this during a press briefing after a state executive council meeting held on Friday.

Tangwame stated that the measles outbreak had affected 8 wards in Mubi and 7 wards in Gombi, adding that “the death toll stands at 42 out of 131 and 177 affected persons in Mubi and Gombi respectively.”

All local government areas in the state except for Lamurde have been designated as red spots.

The commissioner, however, said the state government had responded to the outbreak, managing the situation promptly.

He said the government and its partners were closely monitoring the situation and urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the disease.
