Fifteen new subjects have been added to Nigeria’s basic education curriculum, the Federal Government has announced.
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in a statement issued on Friday, January 24, said the new trade subjects were added to the curriculum to boost students’ practical skills and employability level.
Expected to take effect from January 2025, the newly updated curriculum would be used across the primary and junior secondary classes in Nigeria.
Below is a list of the new subjects:
1, Plumbing
2 Hairstyling
3 Makeup
4 POP installation
5 Tiliing and floor works
6 Event decoration and management
7 Bakery and confectionaries
8 Satelite/TV antenna installation
9 Solar installation and maintenance
10 Garment making
11 Interior Design
12 GSM repairs
13 Agriculture and processing (including crop production, beekeeping, horticulture
14 Livestock farming like poultry and rabbit rearing)
15 Basic digital literacy (including IT and robotics)
