—- Sets to send contingents to the National Sport Festival
The Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Enemona Monday Anyebe, has promised to partner with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Kogi State council for mass mobilisation of the youths for the development of the state and Nigeria at large.
The Commissioner made the pledge on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit on the leadership of NUJ in Lokoja.
He said, NUJ is a very formidable union that whoever wants to succeed in his or her assignments must be ready to partner with the Union, or it will head to failure, acknowledging that the press has an impact on the success of his ministry.
Hon. Anyebe explained that in the light of sustained support of the Journalists to his ministry, he has decided to come here to meet with the Chairman and members of his executive council to thank them for their labour for the ministry, himself and the youth constituency generally.
He solicited for periodic interface between him and NUJ to keep abreast with the opportunities and challenges that the Union may be facing to jointly salvage the situation.
” I came here today to say thank you for what the union has been doing for the ministry. NUJ is a formidable force that cannot be ignored by the government that wants to succeed. I’m aware of your enormous responsibility to nations building. You have supported my ministry in no small measures and I’m here to return praises to you.
“Your unwavering commitment to reporting the activities of my ministry has invariably uplifted the youths across the state, whose voices can now be heard across borders.
As for me and the ministry, the door is wide open for more active collaboration for the benefits of ourselves. I urge you not to hesitate to call on me whenever necessary. ” He appealed.
The commissioner also disclosed that kogi state is set to send contigents to the forthcoming National Sports festival, with the hope of winning laurels for the state.
Responding, the Chairman of Kogi Council of NUJ, Comrade Ademu Seidu, commended the Commissioner for recognising their modest contribution to the success of his ministry and has come to thank the Union.
He noted that, Hon. Anyebe remained the very few commissioners in this administration that has taken NUJ into confidence and have established mutual relationship.
He promised to galvanise and strengthen the relationship through accurate, timely, and balanced reportage for the development of the youth constituency and the state.
