Kogi Speaker pledges commitment to people-oriented legislations

The Speaker, Kogi House of Assembly, Umar Yusuf, has pledged the committment of the house to make laws that will serve the interest of the people.

Yusuf made the pledge on Thursday at a townhall meeting organised by the Kogi State NGO Network (KONGONET) in Lokoja.

The speaker, represented by his Media Aide, Yabagi Mohammed, said that the house had committed members who were willing to work for the people.

”As a house, we are committed to passing bills and motions that will improve the people’s quality of life and stimulate growth.

”The assembly is made up of members, who have rolled up their sleeves, and are ready to work for their constituencies and the state,” he said.

The speaker further expressed the committment of the assembly to key into the development agenda of the Gov. Yahaya Bello-led government.

”Our interest is to ensure that our people are served better and that they enjoyed the dividend of democracy,” Yusuf said.

He urged non-governmental organisations in the state to support the government with meaningful inputs that would trigger off better service delivery.

He commended KONGONET for providing a platform for an interface between the State Government and civil society organisations.

He said that the assembly was willing to work with the network to ensure a better legsilative service delivery to Kogi people.
