Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the appointment of a seasoned Journalist Yusuf Jimoh Itopa as the new Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Kogi State Graphic Newspaper.
The State Head of Civil Service, Elijah Evinemi who disclosed this while speaking on the appointment in his office , Lokoja on Friday , said aside the appointment of the Managing Director for Graphic other Ministry, Department and Agencies (MDAs) whose heads were in acting capacity have also been given conformations by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He charged the new Managing Director of Graphic Newspaper to live up to expectation by ensuring that he use the media to propagate and promote government policies and programmes.
“By this appointment, your Media house as the mouth piece of the state government, should endeavor to key into the transformation and continuity agenda of Governor Ododo, by communicating effectively programmes and policies of Government.
“You wealth of experience over the years should be brought to bear in this appointment, to enable you perform creditably to the admiration of the governor, your professional colleagues and the entire people of the state
In his remark, the immediate past Chairman if Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh, thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing Mr Itopa as the new Managing Director of Graphic Newspaper.
He expressed optimism that the new MD will perform more than expectation and appealed to the State Government to give all the necessary support to the media House to enhance its operations in and outside the state.
“I am using this medium to appeal to Kogi State Government to give maximum financial support to Graphic Newspaper so that people outside Kogi State can be reading the paper” he said.
In his words of appreciation, the new Managing Director promised not to disappoint the Governor and all the people that are instrumental to his new appointment.
He thanked the Head of service, DG Government House administration, the chief of staff and the Commissioner of Information and communications, saying all them played prominent roles in the process leading to his appointment.
“I will try my best to ensure that we do our best in ensuring that we promote government policies.
“I was in the Graphic Newspaper for over 12 years before I moved to the ministry of information. The experience is there for me to harness”
While calling for government support and collaboration to enable him achieve his set objectives, the MD thanked Governor Ododo for considering him worthy for the appointment.
