Nasiru Idris, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Kebbi State, has pledged to accord education a top priority, if elected.
”I will particularly focus on teachers’ welfare during my administration, if elected as the governor of the state in 2023 general elections,” the immediate past president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers ( NUT), vowed.
Idris, who was also a Deputy National President of Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC), stated this while speaking with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
He said,”Yes, education is my field, even His Excellency, Governor of Kebbi state, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, prioritised his programmes on education.
”He his doing his best. I want to assure the teachers that I will do my best.
“The teachers will be my priority and the general public will be viewing that, I come from that sector, so they will be expecting more.
”So, I want to assure the people of the state that, once our blueprint programmes come out, they will see what we are going to do. I want to assure them that education is one of our priority.”
Idris explained that, he was also aware that the people of the had a lot of lot expectations from him.
He said that, he would do everything humanly possible to live above board, ensuring,”i will do my best to satisfy their needs.”
Idris also commended Bagudu and Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, for their ”marvelous and unprecedented support to the party.
“I want to appreciate our teeming supporters in the state, you can bear us witness, not only the delegates, but, our people also came.
” You can see how they conducted themselves peacefully and I am very happy that I got the ticket.
”I am very happy that my brother, whom I contested with, Alhaji Abubakar Gari-Malam, willfully accepted the outcome of the primary.
”He has conceded in good faith, and I want to thank him,” the candidate said
