The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission is investigating the managing director of the state-owned television station, Abubakar Rimi Television, Alhaji Mustapha Adamu Indabawa, over alleged misappropriation and mismanagement.
The investigation followed a petition by the joint union of the station, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to about N100m and abuse of office.
It was reported that Indabawa was among the new heads of parastatals appointed as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the station by the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, a few months ago.
It was gathered that the managing director was grilled by investigators on Friday over alleged misappropriation of over N60m and an alleged theft of N3m UNICEF airtime cash he claimed was stolen in his car.
The offence is contrary to Section 26 of the law establishing the anti-graft agency and punishable with a minimum of 3 years in jail.
When contacted the embattled managing director, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa declined to comment, saying since the matter is before the anti-graft agency, he would not want to say a word.
