Kaduna Governor Reveals Why Governors Won’t Oppose Tinubu in 2027

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has declared that it would be nearly impossible for any Nigerian governor to oppose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

He made the remark on Tuesday during the opening session of a two-day interactive forum organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House in Kaduna.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s administration has shown a level of cooperation with state governments unmatched in Nigeria’s democratic history.

“No president in Nigeria’s history has supported governors and sub-national governments the way President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently doing,” Sani said. “As a result, it is unlikely that any governor in Nigeria would go against the president.”

The engagement, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity,” brought together stakeholders from across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. Attendees included former governors, ex-ministers, traditional rulers, technocrats, civil society leaders, and religious figures.

Governor Sani also praised the federal government’s efforts to deepen dialogue in the region, noting a significant shift in strategy toward engaging with non-state actors in northern Nigeria.

“For the first time in Nigeria’s history, the government is engaging with non-state actors to discuss progress and assess the situation in northern Nigeria,” he said. “This unprecedented approach reflects a shift in how national issues are being addressed.”
