July Declaration to Be Read Tuesday in Presence of Chief Adviser

The much-anticipated July Declaration is scheduled to be read tomorrow (Tuesday, August 5) at 5:15 PM in Dhaka in the presence of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, according to a press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID) on Monday (August 4).

Meanwhile, the country’s major political opposition, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has expressed its readiness to sign the July Charter at any time. BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed made the statement while speaking to journalists at his Gulshan residence on Monday.

Ahmed further said that the BNP had already responded to the draft on July 30, with some proposed amendments. “We have extended our full cooperation in the process of finalizing and implementing the July Declaration,” he said.

The July Declaration has become a central point of political discourse in recent days, following weeks of unrest and nationwide student-led movements demanding reforms and government accountability.
